Children's Nursery and Sunday Preschool

The Children's Nursery provides an opportunity for children ages 4 and younger to make new friends, hear faith-based stories, and learn basic prayers.

  • The Children's Nursery is free, but registration is required.
  • The Children's Nursery is open for the 10:00 and 11:45 Sunday Masses throughout the year, except when a major holiday or special occasion falls on a Sunday.  Emergency closings may occur because of hazardous weather conditions.  Children can be checked in before or during Mass.
  • The Children's Nursery is looking for adult and teen volunteers, bother men and women.  If you love working with children and are interested in helping, please contact the Nursery Coordinator.

The Sunday Preschool is a free summer program which gives children ages 4 and 5 a place to practice prayers together.  Each week we share an activity and Gathering Time.  The Sunday Preschool is open for both the 10:00 and 11:45 Sunday Masses during the months of June, July, and August.

Lay Ministry of Care

If you, or someone in your household, is unable to join the parish family for the celebration of the Eucharist, the Pastoral Care Ministry invites you to contact us through parish office, 630-759-7588, or email us at pastoralcare@stfrancisbb.org and schedule a visit from one of our lay ministers. Each Sunday one of the lay ministers of Pastoral Care will be happy to come to your home and conduct a short communion service.

This communion service is available for all incapacitated individuals, including children, who are unable to attend Mass. The weekly visits can be for a short period of time (i.e. post operative, new mothers, accident victims, or unexpected illness) or for an extended period of time. Do not be concerned if your home is not neat and tidy as the pastoral care ministers are focused solely on sharing The Good News and bringing The Holy Eucharist to our infirmed members of the parish family.

Lay ministers are available every Sunday after the 8:15 and 10:00 A.M. Masses. We welcome the opportunity to share both the Good News and The Body of Christ with you or your loved ones.

Also, if you have prayer requests you can email us at pastoralcare@stfrancisbb.org. and be assured that we will pray for you and with you.

To arrange to be put on the homebound parishioner list and have a communion service conducted in your home, please call 630-759-7588 or email us at pastoralcare@stfrancisbb.org.

In order to serve to as a Lay Minister you must be over 18 years of age.  Training is provided through the diocese and parish. Meetings are the first Saturday of the month at 8:00am to 9:00am.

Spiritual Adoption Prayer:

In 1973 Archbishop Fulton Sheen wrote a little prayer after the US Supreme Court legalized abortion.  Invoking the intercession of the Holy Family, he pleaded for divine protection over unborn babies in danger of being aborted.  "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much," he wrote.  I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."  Servant of God Sheen encouraged Catholics to pray this prayer daily for nine months in the name of the baby.  He believed that, by such "spiritual adoption" of specific babies - one prayer at a time - the advance of the culture of death in America and abroad could be thwarted.  Fine out more at spiritualadoption.org.

Respect Life Prayer

Heavenly Father, the beauty and dignity of human life was the crowning of your creation.  You further ennobled that life when your Son became one with us in his incarnation.  Help us to realize the sacredness of human life and to respect it from the moment of conception until the last moment at death.  Give us courage to speak with truth and love and with conviction in defense of life.  Help us to extend the gentle hand of mercy and forgiveness to those who do not reverence your gift of life.  To all, grant pardon for the time we have failed to be grateful for your precious gift of life or to respect it in others.  We ask this in Jesus' name.  Amen.                               www.catholiconline.com
